    Reminder about SDLT multiple dwelling relief

    Please don't forget that if you are buying more than one dwelling I.e a house divided into two flats you may be able to lower your sdlt by paying rates based on the average consideration

    Am dealing with numerous refund claims at the moment due to the solicitor overlooking this

    Yes Debbie. Very lucrative work.

    Just had a new client approach me as she was informed by a solicitor that she had to pay the additional 3% on the annex. I saved her £70k and then had to do the SDLT forms as the solicitor made a botch of it!

    I think like most tax things, SDLT is becoming more and more complex and so moving away from the legal arena into the accountants arena.
