    Residential Mortgage and Air BnB?

    Does anyone have any knowledge on Air BnB and having a Residential Mortgage? would there be any effect or breech of conditions using Air BnB to rent rooms out at your private residence?

    Many lenders allow you to have a lodger in your home, not all. Though that list gets even shorter if you intend to advertise on AirBnB.

    Unfortunately, you find that most lenders have a dislike for AirBNB.

    There are a few mortgage options that are open though, mainly smaller building societies. There are lenders that consider it on a case-by-case basis, some limit to 90 days, others have a LTV Limit.

    Most are very clear, No AirBNB.

    I have written consent to let from my residential lender. I am not, however, permitted to grant exclusive occupation. In short this allows me to take in lodgers or airbnb, but excludes rental to tenants. I believe most lenders are happy with this arrangement.

    I also changed my home insurance to cover the above. Standard home insurance may be invalidated if you let rooms.
