    Selective licensing questionnaire

It looks like I will be in a SL area for one property later this year.

As i understand it the council will want all details of other properties i rent out in that area plus other areas.

Does anyone know if i have to provide this information ?  IS it a case of if you want a license, then you have to answer all the questions.

It was a question I was asked, i had no problem with it. If it allows a council to identify other properties owned by  a landlord found “lacking” within an SL area  then for me thats a good thing.

But it isn't a good thing because it will end up being a database from which a council can target areas where they know x amount of properties sit.  Looking into the SL industry it does not seem to be about raising standards for tenants, but rather raising funds for cash strapped councils.

If the other properties are not subject to the Licensing then they are not entitled to know what you do or don't own, tell 'em to shove it where the sun don't shine.

They are entitled to ask you about any other property that is or requires licensing in any borough. But they are not entitled to ask for every property you own

This has turned into Big Brother, what goes on in borough X is nothing to do with the clowns trying to run borough Y is it.

Ok, i am still not sure if i need to declare all properties to them.  Obviously i will declare the properties in the SL area, but outside i cant see why they need the info.  All i can think of is the council wants to build a picture of where other property is and so they will then target the areas for SL again.  I know Leeds council is planning on widening their current new SL area in the future.
