  • Tax

Sell to your tenant and pay no CGT

an idea I put on Conservative Home about a year ago while slagging off Section 24. .

Dominic Raab appears to have taken it up as one of his policies for election to replace May.

I can't link it as it is the Telegraph and behind a pay wall.

If the tenant can afford to pay full market value then this is very sensible. Whether most can or not is very debatable.

I am currently selling a house to one of mine, if it finally completes in 12 days after 8 months waiting.

I think what I read suggested no CGT but that the actual gain would be shared with the tenant?  I paid £270k and am selling for £637.5k, so I think I would still rather pay the tax?
