Smart camera doorbells on rental property?

Has anyone installed Ring Cam Doorbell on their rental?

    Any pros/cons... (apart from cost)

There is a very recent discussion on this topic here:

Ring Video Doorbell or CCTV Cameras

If you purchase Ring off QVC, you can pay in two instalments , which helps a bit ...

Thanks for that. I'll check the thread out.

I was just thinking with all the GDPR and privacy protections if there were implications for LL. Newest product from Riing requires no drilling and fits into peep hole.

Thanks for the heads up about the new version of the Ring doorbell. I like the idea of this version as apparently the external versions are quite popular to being stolen!

My understanding is you would get a police report, send it off to them and they send you a new one.

I've had a look for the Ring doorbell you mention mounted in the door and can't find one - please can you provide a link to it as it sounds v.interesting as tenant has just suggested one. Thanks.

A friend has the Ring video and also the Nuki internet door lock and administers his AirBnB in  London whilst sitting by his pool in Portugal. It works brilliantly, yet to have a problem. Sees the cleaning staff, deliveries, meter readers and guests. Caught a guest leaving with an electric kettle though  he was only using it to top up his screen wash bottle. Find it tempting!

It would certainly prove the point of if a 'guest' was staying very regularly at the property - but could be a bit of a GDPR problem though?

Nuki is a pretty neat idea for those emergency situations. Would it be worth it for a single tenant occupancy.

Distance isn't an issue if you don't have anyone locally to provide a set of keys. As long as you had data package with your phone.

Only slight issues: someone damages cylinder on outside meaning having to remove it. If they're phone nicked, someone could have access to property if they don't tell you in time.

They had a problem when  I was I with them when a visitor was out of battery but contaced via another person  and  they opened the lock remotely, indeed it was that that impressed me most.

Completely different from a standard  rental agreement.
