Tracking down legal owner of a property

    Hi Tribes,

There's a property I walk past regularly I know looks empty and I'm very sure no one lives there. I've got a name of the owner from the Title obtained from the Land Registry. I'm now wondering what I can do next to track down the owner? Any bright ideas?

There are "no find - no fee" tracing companies - or check on 192.com County by County (you can buy credits to access ex-directory data).

Maybe speak to neighbours who may have some idea of his/her whereabouts.

    Thank you for reply.

I had a check on 192.com and I'm led to believe this person may now be in a retirement home. I would like a few more sources to be sure.

If you know the approx. location of retirement home then ring around a few to see if you can locate him.

Land registry should provide name and address also what year the place was purchased, which could be useful if it is a very long time ago

Google and birthday notice in news papers can sometimes also provide some information.

get an official copy of the register  from the land registry for a few quid https://www.gov.uk/search-property-information-land-registry
