UK property forums ranked by popularity

I work in the IT industry and frequent a number of forums, so I thought I would create a chart to find out which is the most popular, as determined by Alexa and also look to see if traffic is declining or growing as landlord threats take hold.

    Here are the results:

    1.  Property Tribes - 9,135

    2.  Landlord Zone - 9,511

    3.  Property 118 - 17,883

    4.  Property Hub - 27,769

    5.  Property Hawk - 37,359

    6.  Property Forum - 189,774

The first 5 sites are currently experiencing growing traffic, while the 6th one has declining traffic.

This is obviously just a snap-shot from today and Alexa up-dates every 24 hours.

Are there any other forums that I have missed out?

I would take Alexa with a pinch of salt as it depends on the visitors of the site having the plugin installed. I have a site that routinely gets 500,000 page views a month Alexa thinks I have less than 100 visitors in that period.

I have metrics on all the sites above that tell a different story but due to the sensitive nature of the figures I would not want to share them in this open forum.

I agree that Alexa is nothing more than a snapshot and it can also be "gamed" by asking community members to instal the toolbar.

All it can really be used for is comparison and general trends imho.

In my opinion, the most important metrics are "time on site" and "page views per visitor" and PT scores very highly on both counts.

Regardless of the accuracy it is great to see Property Tribes at the top, especially if we compare it to Landlord Zone which has been around for ages and ages right?

That forum was well established when I first got into lettings, at a time when Tribes was subdomain on Ning.

    How things change!

Thanks for the kind comment Adam.

I think I am correct in saying that Landlord Zone started in 1999!  Property Tribes started in 2009.

Therefore LLZ will have a tremendous amount of google juice and is very well established.  I imagine it is frequented by older-school landlords whereas the newer forums are visited by younger/newer landlords?

    Just adding:

    Landlord Referencing Forum - 11,089

It's been a fairly average day on Property Tribes.  Interesting statistic.  Our ChartBeat app tells me that landlords have spent 224 hours on the site today in total.
